During a three-month studio residency with Ilkley Arts, Ali explored memory and our relationship to place. The works developed through an intuitive process of layering, washing away and rebuilding, reflecting how places become fragmented, altered and reconstructed over time. Traces of earlier marks remain within the surfaces, suggesting what is retained, what disappears, and what is reshaped.
